Here are the different areas that you can explore, and a bit of information about what to expect in each.

On arrival

About this area

This is the way into the museum – just follow the yellow brick road!
Lots of people like going to Eureka! and sometimes there might be a queue to get in. The grown up with you can ask an Enabler to fast track your admission though.

What you can experience here?

  • The tills, where you will check into the museum
  • You can have a hand stamp put on your hand to show that you have paid to come in (though you don't have to)
  • You can go out when you want and come back in again
  • Beneath the big clock in our lobby there is a metal statue of Greek mathematician Archimedes, which is dipped into a see-through bath every 30 minutes, making a long splashing noise

All About Me

About this area

This is a gallery where you can learn about your body and pretend to be a doctor, dentist or midwife.

What you can experience here?

  • Meet Zoom, who is a very friendly robot
  • Measure how far you can stretch, step and reach
  • Look up a giant nose
  • Get active and see how it changes your body

Creativity Space

About this area

This is a room just for children under the age of 5 and their families.

What you can experience here?

  • Get creative and find out what craft activities are taking place
  • Share a story in our book corner
  • Say hello to the fish in our fish tank

Desert Discovery

About this area

This area is just for children aged under five, and has lots of different desert-themed activities to explore.

What you can experience here?

  • Play in the baby oasis
  • Stroke the pretend coyote and make it howl
  • Find out what you can build with giant soft building blocks
  • Put a ball in the special lift and crank the wheel to transport it across the gallery

Living & Working Together

About this area

Our child-sized town square has a shop, bank, postal hub, house and even a musical fountain! Plus don’t forget Eco Street, where you can learn about up-to-date and sustainable forms of transport.

What you can experience here?

  • Become a postal worker and deliver parcels around the gallery
  • Use the cash machine in our bank, which gives out pretend bank notes
  • Scan your pretend shopping in our shop
  • Pretend to be on television in the living room of our house

SoundGarden

About this area

The SoundGarden is an enclosed area just for children under the age of 5, surrounded by giant pretend leaves.

What you can experience here?

  • Play in our baby oasis
  • Use the screen to draw a pattern on a butterfly's wings
  • Listen to lullabies from different countries
  • Dress up as a mouse, ladybird, and other small creatures

SoundSpace

About this area

This is an area where you can learn all about sounds, different ways of making them and different kinds of noises.

What you can experience here?

  • Learn about sound waves
  • Hear how different types of music create different moods
  • Watch Orby, a cartoon alien, on screens and her her discover more about all the different kinds of sounds
  • Step into our pretend spaceship to help Orby send information back to her home planet

Imagination space

About this area

The imagination space isn’t always open as we use it for extra activities sometimes.

Ask an Enabler if there is anything happening in there when you visit. We sometimes use this room during our clubs for disabled children, or as an extra lunch area.

What you can experience here?

  • This is the room where we hold Birthday Parties
  • Sometimes, we use this room for school workshops
  • In school holidays, we sometimes use this room as a lunch area
  • We use this space for special event activities

Theatre

About this area

The Theatre is often opened up during our events in the school holidays, but is closed to the public the rest of the time. We sometimes use this room during our clubs for disabled children.

What you can experience here?

  • During our events, we sometimes decorate the Theatre to match the event theme, with special fun activities too!

Café & Gift Shop

About this area

Our Café has lots of tables and chairs and you can buy food and drink, and our Gift Shop has toys, gadgets, posters and souvenirs to buy.

What you can experience here?

  • Buy some lunch and sit at a table to eat it.
  • Lots of other families eating and drinking together.
  • Shelves full of things to buy.
  • People queueing up to pay for gifts or souvenirs.

About this area

We have a Changing Places washroom available to use on our ground floor, if you need it, as well as accessible toilets on each floor.

If the museum is feeling overwhelming, you can ask to use our Chill Out Room to take time out with your family, or borrow a pair of ear defender.

Ask any member of Eureka! Staff to use either.
