What is a ‘Sensory code’?

About this area

This is our Spark gallery, which is two separate areas – one on the ground floor and one on the first floor.

In Spark, we have a changing programme of exhibitions and activities. We usually welcome a new exhibition every 6 months or so.

Activities you can take part in

  • Explore two exhibitions called "Magic Place" and "Pixel Play"

What will you see?

Sights: High

You can expect to see

  • In Magic Place and Pixel Play, the light level is quite low with small colourful lights on lots of the exhibits

You can expect to hear

  • Different sound effects from the Varient Wall on the First Floor
  • In Magic Place, there are sound effects triggered by interacting with the projections

What will you smell?

You can expect to smell

  • General museum smells - other people, heating systems, food smells from the Café

What you can touch

Touch: Medium

You can expect to touch

  • Touch the ipad screens in ShapeShift to create drawings (FlipDot) or play Gecko Jam
